Beating Wellness Barriers on Game Day AND Valentine's Day

Hi Byte Wellness Fam!

We’re well into Black History Month. We’re using this time to draw on the strength of our ancestors and learn how to leverage the wellness resilience that kept them going.

To that end, I blocked off some time during February to have a 1-on-1 goal setting call with you.

That's 20 minutes on the phone or zoom to hash out the goal-setting frameworks we've been reviewing and figure out how those tools apply to your own wellness journey. Did I mention it's FREE!

Meanwhile, in the Daily Wellness Text Thread, we’re discussing wellness barriers- those parts of our lives that make it hard to consistently choose healthy habits. Sometimes these barriers are part of our environment (like not having enough space to exercise) and sometimes they’re part of our psyche (you dread eating veggies). Wherever these barriers come from, we first have to be able to identify them in order to overcome them.

That’s where the STEM framework comes in. Watch the video below to see our last #ByteWellnessWednesday discussion of the STEM framework for naming barriers.

By the way, if you’re not getting daily texts or invites to the #ByteWellnessWednesday calls, you can join the conversation by texting TEXT to 1(224)302-6224.

STEM framework for Naming Your Wellness Barriers

  • Stuff (low access to equipment needed to practice a certain wellness skill)

  • Time (not enough time to practice)

  • Enjoyment (not enough pleasure in practicing your wellness skill)

  • Mastery (not enough knowledge or experience to comfortably practice a certain wellness skill)

Discussion Question:

Don’t forget to ponder our discussion questions from this week. Think your friends and family will have similar answers? Share these questions with them to find out.

  • Think about your main wellness goal for this year. What are the top 3 barriers making it hard for you to practice it.

That’s all for now. You know how to reach me if you have any questions.

Happy Healthy Living,

Dr. Wuse
