Reading [Nutrition Facts] Is Fundamental
Hi Byte Well Fam,
How are you feeling? Again, this week, I feel deserving. I don’t mean that I’m “deserving” in an entitled sense. I feel deserving of self-care, rest, replenishment. As someone who, until recently, only prioritized “duty”, this is a huge development for me.
This week, when I felt tired, even exhausted, I actually gave myself permission to rest.
Sometimes that meant rearranging parts of my day to fit in 15 minutes of relaxation. Other times that meant reconsidering certain responsibilities. Either way, I made the choice to rejuvenate for a bit… then keep pushing.
Getting enough rest is probably my biggest health and wellness challenge right now. And it just so happens that rest is a perfect example of what a huge role choice plays in our health and wellness experiences.
Just like I can choose to create rest opportunities around whatever responsibilities I have, we can all choose to fill our plates with nutritious foods, despite all the highly-processed options surrounding us.
What’s one way to identify which foods are nutritious? Read the nutrition label.
Discussion Question
Do you know where to find nutrition labels? What do you look for first on the labels?
This week, in the #PhyteWellWednesday Workshop, we broke down the structure of a nutrition facts label. In case you missed it, check the recording below.

Do you think you’re using nutrition facts to the best of your ability right now? Are you benchmarking your food’s nutrition against your own health risks and wellness goals?
If not, why not? Leave a comment below or shoot me an email to let me know what you think.
