Making the Simple Wine Vinaigrette [Recipe]
Byte Wellness Fam!
What can we say…another wild week in the books.
How are you feeling? Will you have some time to rest this weekend? I hope so.
Whether you’re taking some time to cook out with loved ones or continuing life as usual, make sure you give this salad dressing a try! This recipe from the Sweet Potato Soul blog is suuuper simple.
Shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. And, it’s versatile. In this week’s workshop, we poured this dressing over salad (cold spinach). (Watch the recording inside the private community here). But, if you’re feeling creative, this recipe can turn into a hot meal. It doubles as a sauce for sauteed veggies.

Meanwhile, picking up from last week there are some adjustments you might want to think about if you’re dealing with specific health risks or wellness goals.
For example, the 1/2 teaspoon of salt in our dressing equals about 1150mg. Divided across 4 servings 300 grams per serving shouldn’t exceed most sodium limits. Still, if we’re watching our sodium intake, we might want to cut back on the salt in our recipe or cut it out all together.
Watching Sodium With High Blood Pressure, Congestive Heart Failure or Liver Failure
If you’re managing any of the risks below, make sure you’re keeping an eye on your salt (sodium) intake:
High Blood Pressure
Congestive Heart Failure
Liver Failure
What Is Sodium?
For many people, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and liver failure are salt-sensitive conditions. That means that eating too much salt might cause life-threatening complications (like a spike in blood pressure or fluid retention in heart failure).
If you and your doctor decided on a daily salt (sodium) limit, check the nutrition facts on your salad dressing to make sure the salt content doesn’t push you too close to your daily limit.
How Much Sodium Do We Need?
As a reference, the DASH diet study found that blood pressure decreased in their study population when people followed a 2300mg daily limit. Blood pressure decreased even more for people who followed a 1500mg daily limit.
