Choosing to Get Well
Hi Byte Wellness Fam!
How are you feeling?
I’m feeling a lot better. That’s not a metaphor for how I’m operating at a higher plane in life these days. I was pretty sick earlier this week (COVID-19 infection), and now I feel less sick. Getting sick was an inconvenient, but necessary, reminder that:
COVID-19 is still out there, and it’s still harmful. It kept me in bed for a couple days. Might have been so much worse for someone with chronic conditions.
With the Public Health Emergency lifted just over a month ago, it seems the whole world is back OWWSIDE. And, we’re acting like COVID-19 isn’t still among us. (I can talk because I was right there with them, letting my guard all the way down at the Beyoncé concert …right before I got sick).
COVID-19 might not be spreading as rampantly as it did over the last few years, but it’s still here. According to the CDC, COVID-19 hospitalizations are up 10% this week all over the U.S.
Discussion Question:
Think about your values, the principles you live by. How are they connected to your wellness goals?
We Have The Power
Here’s one of our major principles, worth repeating. We always have the power of choice. Mask mandates have been lifted, but that doesn’t mean we CAN’T wear masks.
We can decide how much protection we want for ourselves (masking, washing hands, spending time outside as weather permits, etc). Once I recover, I’ll feel comfortable being unmasked in my little corner of the gym. But, I’m definitely going back to stricter masking habits everywhere else.
Of course, that principle also applies to the conversation we’ve had over the last few months about analyzing nutrition facts of restaurant food. Let’s use our power of choice wisely and find food serves our wellness goals and our taste preferences.
I’m so sorry I was too sick to meet you online for our weekly #PhyteWellWednesday this week- especially because we had a virtual dance party planned. But I’ll see you next week to wrap up our restaurant nutrition convo.
If you’re not getting invites to the Wednesday night sessions, text TEXT to 1(866)717-1919 to join the text thread (where the link is shared).
Meanwhile, if you’re determined to have your dance party, there’s a video above you can move along to.
