Plant-based eating is getting a lot of hype in the media- and with good reason. Scientific and medical communities agree that, in general, plant-based eating is better for  your heart health than meat-centered eating. Studies also show plant-based eating is associated with lower diabetes risk, regardless of weight. BUT, there are levels to this. “Plant-based”  eating has a loose definition.  A lot of people think that “plant-based” eating means being a vegetarian (not eating any meat or fish) or being vegan (not eating any meat, fish, dairy or other animal byproducts). Plant-based eating includes vegan and vegetarian eating, but you can still get the benefits of plant-based eating if you eat meat.
